Where does funding come from for;
Films
Funding for films can come through multiple different sources for example there is public film funding. The BFI Film Fund is a large agency in the uk which has a number of funding strands, investing over £26m of Lottery funds per year to support film development, production (incl. majority and minority co-productions) and distribution activity in the UK.
Another way normally used by smaller independent film producers is crowdfunding this means that they raise small amounts of money from a large number of people through the internet.
Blockbuster films can gain funding through product placement from large companies, for example Heineken in James Bond - Skyfall. Companies can play between 3-10 million a film and exceed 50 million in a film series. They also gain money through when people go see a movie in cinema, rent it when it's available for home viewing, buy the DVD or purchase the soundtrack, the studio responsible gets a percentage of the proceeds. It also collects from TV distribution contracts on various domestic and foreign TV outlets, from pay-per-view to basic cable and free networks to satellite stations.
